Beef with mushrooms

I had a small amount of ground beef left and leftover mushrooms so I decided I’d make some beef stroganoff. I started the browning process when I found I had no cream cheese. And yes, I just returned from the store. So since I refused to go buy any it was time for plan B. I found this recipe. Simple and delish. Good accident!   1 lb. lean Ground Beef [93% lean or leaner] 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 cloves garlic, minced ½ yellow onion, diced 2 cups mushrooms [any variety], sliced 2 tablespoons fresh basil [or 1 teaspoon dried] ¼ cup beef broth 2 tablespoon balsamic vinegar 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce Brown ground beef in a fry pan, breaking into small crumbles as it cooks. Add garlic and onion , cooking til garlic becomes fragrant, about three minutes. Add mushroom and cook about another five minutes. Add basil, broth, vinegar and worcestershire sauce. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the liquid has reduced, about 3 minutes. Serve immediately with yo...

Laundry detergent

Yeah this doesn’t fit into my typical recipe box but I want to record it here for future reference. I just made my second batch. I liked it. It worked well and I like that I know what’s in it. I got the original recipe from lizmarieblog and just eliminated the scent part   4 lb 12 oz Borax 3 bars  Fels-Naptha soa 4 lb baking soda 1 box arm & hammer super washing soda {laundry Isle} 4 lbs Oxy Clean Mix all in a garbage bag to mix then put into storage container.   Use 2 tablespoons per load.  If you have a large load you may want to use rounded tablespoons. This recipe removed stains, left clothes clean, & my whites were bright but I do still use bleach on my whites  the original recipe calls for  Laundry softener cyrstals for scent  Yeah scents are nice but I am not a fan as it’s just more chemicals

Oatmeal cookies

I have a collection of nuts that are probably on the stale side that I wanted to use up. So off to Google I went to find a recipe that used ground nuts. This one fit the ticket.  I have the dough in the fridge and baked a few cookies the other night. They were a bit salty but otherwise delish so I recommend omitting the salt if your nuts are salted. I have removed it from the ingredient list and added a comment in the directions. They baked very soft and fluffy. Very tasty!   1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats 3/4 c. Flour 1 c ground nuts 1 teaspoon cinnamon  1/2 t baking soda 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature 2/3 c brown sugar 1 large egg 1 t vanilla  Combine the oats, flour, ground nuts, cinnamon, salt and baking soda.  Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar on medium-high speed until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl occasionally as needed. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat on medium spee...
